What is a wayzgoose?

Centuries ago, a wayzgoose was a party hosted by a master printer for their workers at summer’s end — a feast marking the shift from daylight to candlelight printing. Today, the tradition lives on as a spirited celebration of printmaking in all its forms.

The Juneau Wayzgoose is a new grassroots event that celebrates Alaska’s thriving printmaking community. all are welcome at wayzgooze, and we commit to including and representing diverse voices within and beyond our community.

Our mission is to:

  • Connect artists and printers through networking and collaboration.

  • Engage the public with hands-on activities and demonstrations.

  • Showcase the beauty, diversity, and craft of printmaking in Southeast Alaska.

This first year is just the beginning — join us in building a tradition together.
